    1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
    The Sonographer will be an integral part of providing a positive experience for the population we care for and work with by supporting the Customer Service initiatives. Under the direction of a radiologist, the Sonographer shall perform diagnostic ultrasound radiographic procedures by the application of ionizing radiation to assist physicians with developing patient specific treatment plans. Imaging will be done under a variety of conditions, ultrasound radiographic modalities and equipment. Clerical duties, scheduling and tracking patient appointments will be part of the position. Exceptional communication skills will be needed to meet the needs of patients, patient's family and friends, referring physician, clinic staff, and hospital clinical and ancillary staff. Communicates, collaborates with, and provides information to patients, visitors, members of the health care team.

    This individual#will provide quality diagnostic services to neonates, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.# Will also demonstrate the ability to obtain high quality diagnostic images and analyze the findings.## PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS Must be registered by the ARDMS in both Abd and OB/GYN Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire One or more years of clinical ultrasound experience beneficial Strong skillset and knowledge in OB is beneficial Hours: .8 full-time 64 hours every 2 weeks. Day shift#(varied shifts between the hours of 6:45am - 5:30pm) with PM rotation )4pm - 12pm). Position also includes rotating Call Schedule, Holidays and Weekend shift (Saturday/Sunday). Large call pool.# Aspirus Wausau Hospital is the flagship of the Aspirus system that serves patients in 14 counties across northern and central Wisconsin, as well as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It is a licensed private/not-for-profit facility with 325 beds and staffed by 350 physicians in 35 specialties.# Aspirus Wausau Hospital is a Level II trauma center that provides primary, secondary and tertiary care services as a regional referral center. Specialty referral service emphasis exists in cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedics and cancer


    2. Equipment utilized in the unit/dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
    Toshiba Aplio 500, Epic, Xcelera (C-PACS), Synapse(PACS)


    3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
    Graduate of an accredited program, Desired two years of scanning experienced, Excellent Communication, Computer, and Independent worker.

    4. Specific licensures and certifications/registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)

    5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
    Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, every other Sunday, and No Call. Weekday shift 7am-7pm. Sundays 8 am- Noon.

    Policy Statements:
    Department Managers are expected to enforce this policy. Due to the contact with patients and public, it is imperative that the work attire of all employees be appropriate and identifies them as facility employees. The employee may be sent home by the department manager or supervisor for reporting to duty in sub-standard attire. For the first offense, the employee will be expected to return to work in proper dress for that same shift. Further infractions will be subject to the Progressive Disciplinary Policy. It should be understood that should a safety concern arise out of uniform and shoe wear, changes in what is allowed to be worn may occur.

    Policy:

    Clinical Areas
    1. Uniforms and shoes are to be clean, neat and free of odor including tobacco, smoke, body odor and heavy perfumes.
    2. Long hair (below the shoulder) shall be pulled back.
    3. Jewelry shall be plain consisting of only wedding rings, watches, non-dangling necklaces and small earrings. (ear piercings should be the only visible piercing)
    4. Uniform should be appropriately fitted to body type.
    5. Shoes must be non-marking and without holes (i.e. crocs) (Note: If slip, trip or fall hazards are identified with certain shoe styles, they may be disallowed for wearing.)
    6. Hosiery and/or socks must be worn.
    7. ID Tags must be worn below the neck and above the waist facing the front.
    8. Ties must be tacked/secured in patient care areas.
    9. Hats are to be removed and not worn in the Northstar facilities.
    10. Stethoscope covers are not to be used due to infection control issues.
    11. Special occasion dress will be allowed at the discretion of administration.
    12. Any visible tattoo must be non-offensive and covered if possible.
    13. Holiday-themed dress will be permitted during the appropriate holiday season. Managers should use their professional discretion.
    14. Clothing or other apparel with professionally inappropriate advertising, statements or pictures including those of a political nature are not permitted.
