Materials Supervisor - Oshkosh Wisconsin

The Materials Supervisor is responsible for managing inventory accuracy and the incoming flow, receipts, issuance and shipments of materials. The Materials Supervisor also collaborates with other departments to determine supply needs, directs materials transfers and kitting and manages the shipping and receiving process. Responsible to support the development and maintenance inventory standards. Monitor and manage the adherence to inventory, shipping and receiving policies, procedures, and best practices. Major Responsibilities: - Oversee the operations and daily activities relative to materials, shipping/receiving, and inventory. This includes, but is not limited to, inventory management, picking customer orders, and receiving incoming materials.
- Materials Teams - Direct the material handling team to ensure material flow from incoming receiving through inventory put away. Evaluate the efficiencies and accuracies of incoming materials as well as outbound shipments.
- Inventory Management - Ensures inventory record accuracy through development and audit of inventory control methodologies and cycle count program.
- Suggests and implements approved inventory management control logic to support corporate Trade Working Capital expectations including but not limited to
- Min/Max ( shared with Purchasing on Fab components/make items)
- Safety Stock (shared with Purchasing on Fab components/make items stocking)
- Right size/returnable packaging to support storage and location size/management
- FIFO process and management (includes part ID, presentation, storage of inventory)
- OBS & Slow Moving Inventory support
- Physical Inventory
- Rack Audit Process/Timing until we can implement cycle counting
- Promote continuous improvement of shipping, receiving, kitting and inventory management, in line with organizational needs and market conditions.
- Work closely with Production and Purchasing as to requirements through production releases and the use of MRP (Material Requirements Planning).
- Establishes and maintains a training schedule for all associates within scope of responsibility. Conducts safety training for associates.
- Participates in leadership meetings to assist in planning and to make recommendations on matters related to manufacturing, shipping, receiving, material flow, and inventory management.
- Provides timely feedback to direct reports to ensure they are meeting expectations and completes annual performance reviews.
- Reports all work related injuries to direct manager and human resources and lead the problem-solving involving safety incidents.
- Works with direct manager and the human resources staff to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees.
- Leads employees to meet the organization's expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
- Develops, plans, evaluates, and improves the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance speed, quality, efficiency, and output for maximum resource utilization.
- Ensures internal and external customer orders are picked and processed accurately and timely. This includes customer shipments as well as internal requirements for materials for production.
- Works with direct manager and human resources to recruit, interview, select , hire and employ an appropriate number of employees.
- Coaches and counsels direct report employees towards improved performance.
- Assures employee compliance with safety and quality requirements.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
- Other duties and responsibilities as the need arises.Required Education / Experience / Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and/or training. or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Minimum 2 years previous experience in supervisor/ team lead role in a manufacturing environment required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business, manufacturing and materials communications and information. Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in a business setting. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Experience with materials functions in ERP/MRP systems required with SAP experience preferable
- Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments.
