General PurposeA Line Patrolman is a Journeyman Lineman who has a working knowledge of transmission line work. In addition, they must have knowledge of transmission standards and clearances. In this capacity you will patrol and inspect by land or air/helicopter, transmission lines, switches, and other related equipment and report and/or correct problems of malfunctioning or damaged equipment. Other responsibilities may include compiling, entering, and maintaining routine line inspection data. Other reports such as damage to company property, mileage reports, time reports and documents required by the Company in connection with the various duties performed may be required. Line Patrolman may be required to perform switching on the transmission system.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities Include: - Providing right-of-way information or assisting in the preparation of legal descriptions and/or other legal documents.
- Coordinate work with other Company departments such as engineering, dispatching, construction, right-of-way and with outside company contractors, and landowners.
- Check and maintain mapping updates for access to the transmission structures.
- Troubleshoot and locate problems and restore electrical services by determining the most efficient repair method and/or re-routing procedure.
- Be available to respond to outages and emergency situations on the transmission and distribution system.
- Employee will also be required to act as a journeyman Lineman and the work will include maintaining, installing, and repairing all transmission and distribution electrical systems and associated equipment, including overhead and underground systems. This may require utilizing line trucks, aerial booms, lifts, and wire pulling equipment.
- You may train and direct the work of a trainee in the trade.
- Maintenance of lines and services will require pole climbing or working out of a pole mounted bucket lift to construct, repair or maintain line equipment. This may include stringing, splicing and sagging on live or dead circuits. Hot sticking or rubber glove methods may be required.
- Other duties may require operating switches, cutouts and using grounding devices to work on deenergized lines and equipment.
- Considerable out of town travel will be required for this position.Requirements
