Job Title: Mammography/X-ray Technician Job Specialty: Radiology Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8-hour days Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of CT and X-ray experience License: Certified to practice and administer radiation Certifications: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); Current BLS certification Must-Have: Graduation from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology; Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Basic computer knowledge; Working knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy Job Description: - Perform mammography imaging procedures according to established protocols and physician orders, ensuring patient safety and comfort. - Obtain patient medical history, including prior breast imaging and reports, and verify patient identification and consent. - Position patients correctly and operate mammography equipment to obtain high-quality breast tissue images. - Monitor patients during imaging procedures, addressing any concerns or discomfort. - Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of procedures, including those required to maintain FDA certification. - Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to review and interpret imaging results. - Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and safety protocols to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. - Maintain and perform quality assurance on mammography equipment to ensure optimal performance. - Provide patient care in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces the likelihood of medical errors. - Participate in continuous education and training to stay current with advancements in breast imaging technology and best practices. - Demonstrate professional judgment in maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately. - Ensure resources are available as needed and participate in departmental improvement teams.
